I would be lost without gateway’s support.

Just what I needed until I got back on my feet.

Fitness classes have been a distraction to the problems I face.

Gateway helped give me back my independence.

Gateway is a voluntary charitable organisation working with vulnerable adults to live independently in their own accommodation or be working towards their own tenancy whilst living at one of Gateway’s supported accommodations.

People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some it offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them. For others it provides an opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge. Regardless of the motivation, you will find it both challenging and rewarding.

Below are some reasons people choose to volunteers, for some it provides an opportunity to:

  • Give something back to an organisation that has impacted on a person’s life;
  • Make a difference to the lives of others;
  • Help others less fortunate or without a voice;
  • Spend quality time away from work or a busy lifestyle;
  • Using one’s professional skills and knowledge to benefit others.

We currently have opportunities for Volunteers:

Buddy Scheme:

Gateway is looking for Volunteers who would be willing to provide some company and help for our service users, this could be taking a service user out for a coffee, helping them with their shopping or just visiting them to provide some company. Volunteers for this role would be matched with a service user to whom they would be best suited.

Some of Gateway’s supported accommodations have gardens which needs some tlc, volunteers willing to help with a bit of gardening for a couple of hours a week would be a massive help. Nothing too heavy – grass cutting, weeding, planting.

Gateway provides specialised trips out for our service users, it would be a great advantage to have a volunteer driver to help with such trips – long and short! If you have a clean driving licence we would be more that delighted to hear from you.

All volunteers would be subject to a PVG Scheme check.

Expenses incurred providing volunteering service would be reimbursed on a weekly basis.

Appropriate training would be provided to all Volunteers.
