Welcome

The Highland Homeless Trust provides accommodation, support and guidance to people with housing problems, including those with chronic alcohol problems and/or additional mental health problems who are homeless or rough sleeping for whom rehabilitation is not a realistic option. The Trust focuses upon providing accommodation and support to those whose behaviour has excluded them from other accommodation and from accessing services.

The Trust’s aims and objectives are:

  • To provide temporary accommodation to those who are homeless or rough sleeping.
  • To offer guidance, information and support to vulnerable adults on all aspects of housing.
  • To offer individualised packages of structured support appropriate to the individuals needs through a named worker system.
  • To enable them to gain the practical skills needed to achieve more independent living.
  • To offer information on issues affecting the individual and enable them to make informed choices and access specialist service provision.
  • To inform people of their rights regarding welfare benefits, education and training and support them to represent themselves appropriately.
  • To make referrals to other specialist services appropriate to each person’s needs.
  • To encourage service user involvement and meaningful participation in the planning, delivery and evaluation of services.
  • To work in a non-oppressive way, striving to develop services that are free of discrimination and meet the needs of service users.
  • To raise the profile of the organisation and increase public awareness of homelessness.
  • To maintain statistical records for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

The Highland Homeless Trust believes that service users have the right to:

  • Choice and self-determination
  • Be treated fairly, equally and with respect
  • Live in safe, appropriate, well-maintained surroundings
  • Have their privacy and dignity maintained
  • Be consulted and involved in decisions directly affecting them or their accommodation
  • Acceptance and understanding
